Lana Skye was the Chief Prosecutor from 2015 to 2017, having previously been a detective who worked alongside Damon Gant. She appeared and was the defendant in Rise from the Ashes, the fifth case of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. She has not been seen in any subsequent cases.

Lana was born in either 1987 or 1988. Lana’s parents died in a car accident at an unspecified time—presumably in the early or mid-2000s—after the birth of her younger sister Ema, leaving Lana to raise her. While in college, Lana met and became friends with Mia Fey, who was a few years behind her and auditing one of Lana’s classes. Lana later joined the police force and became a detective, working under and sharing an office with Damon Gant. Her ultimate goal was to become a prosecutor, building off of the investigative skills she learned as a detective. During their time working together, they developed a reputation as the best detectives on the force, referred to as the “Legendary Duo.”

As the investigation of the killings committed by Joe Darke drew to a close, an unexpected power failure led to the suspect fleeing from interrogation. When Lana found Darke, he was unconscious in her and Gant’s office. Ema was also present and unconscious and Prosecutor Neil Marshall was dead, having apparently been shoved into a sword held by a decorative suit of armor. Fearing Ema had accidentally killed Marshall, Lana panicked, taking a picture of the scene and then seeking out Gant to beg for his help in concealing Ema’s presumed role in Marshall’s death. Gant assisted Lana, helping to make it look as though Darke had stabbed Marshall. Thanks in part to the evidence planted at the crime scene, Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth was able to get Darke convicted of murder and sentenced to death.

Gant used his knowledge of Lana’s actions to blackmail her, effectively making her his puppet. After being made Chief of Police, Gant arranged to have Lana made Chief Prosecutor, using her role in managing evidence to ensure cases went the way he wanted. To keep the guilt of her actions—both during the Darke investigation and those she carried out on Gant’s orders over the next two years—from breaking her, Lana became cold and withdrawn, leading to a distance between her and Ema.

Two years after the incident, when Jake Marshall and Bruce Goodman attempted to reexamine the Darke case, Gant murdered Goodman to cover up his and Lana’s earlier crimes. He hid Goodman’s body in the trunk of Miles Edgeworth’s car, leading to Edgeworth unknowingly transporting the body to the Prosecutor’s Office parking garage. Gant tasked Lana with disposing of the body. She removed the murder weapon from Goodman’s wound, hid it in the tailpipe of Edgeworth’s car, and thrust a utility knife from a toolbox in the trunk into the wound. She was discovered by Angel Starr, however, and apprehended after a struggle.

Lana falsely confessed to killing Goodman in the hope that doing so would ensure that her and Gant’s secret would remain unknown. Ema did not believe that Lana was guilty, though, and sought out Mia Fey to defend her, ultimately hiring Phoenix Wright instead upon learning that Mia was dead. Phoenix took Lana’s case and looked into Goodman’s murder, even managing to get Edgeworth to realize there was something wrong behind the scenes. As Phoenix and Edgeworth uncovered the truth and zeroed in on Gant, Lana finally began to see a chance to break free of Gant’s control without endangering Ema. With her cooperation, Phoenix and Edgeworth managed to clear Ema of all suspicion and expose Gant as Goodman and Marshall’s killer.

While Lana was acquitted of murder, she was still complicit in Gant’s other misdeeds. As such, she was arrested for charges related to her use of forged evidence. She arranged to have Ema live with a coroner in Europe whom Lana was friends with. While Lana speculated that she would find a way back into law enforcement after serving out her sentence, she has not been seen or mentioned in any games since.
