Court-Records: An Ace Attorney Fansite

Important information about this in-development beta

Welcome to Court Records!

We strive to create a space for Ace Attorney fans to gather and connect -- whether you want to chat with others on our forum, reference information on the games or characters, read some fanfiction, take a peek at some fanart, or head over to our Discord server, we've got you covered.

So stay awhile, and let us know if you run into any bugs. (We're still in beta, and we need all the bug smashing help we can get.)

We are running around in panic trying to find all the bugs, but at the moment we are simply unable to catch them all.

As such we are asking for help in finding them. Please post your reports here and we will do our best to catch them before launch.

The Great Ace Attorney Adventures, originally released in Japan under the name "Dai Gyakuten Saiban (大逆転裁判)" was first released in Japan in July 2015. The game was first teased in a Japanese only Nintendo Direct a year before that, with only the information that Shu Takumi was working on a new Ace Attorney project. With only one game left untranslated thus far, non Japanese Ace Attorney fans would have had no reason to believe that they would be left waiting six whole years for the game to finally be translated and officially released worldwide.

For those who have played the game, either in the original Japanese or through the fan made translation worked on tirelessly throughout the waiting period, this new release offers the chance to experience the adventures of Ryunosuke and Herlock Sholmes afresh, in beautiful HD on Switch, PS4 or Steam.

For those who weren't able to play the games before, today marks the ever exciting release of two brand new Ace Attorney games, ones which have been teased and hyped up for longer than the gap between any Japanese and English release in the series so far.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is now available on Switch, Playstation and Steam in some regions, and will release within the next day in other timezones. You can follow us here or on twitter for any news about the series post release of this game, but for right now - The game is afoot!

If it seems all quiet on the Ace Attorney front, that's because it has been. However, there's still been a little trickle of news coming out of Japan.

- If you're a big fan of the lads from The Great Ace Attorney and are willing to pay a staggering price, you can now purchase 75 cm plushies of Ryu and Asogi from eCapcom in Japan.

- There was an Ace Attorney rock concert a couple of days ago, and you can see a snippet of rehearsal footage for that here (including some impressive accordion playing to make Weird Al proud).

- Don't forget that the 2019 orchestra concert CD comes out on the 24th - you can purchase it here or here, and thanks to WarChild on the forums, the track list seems to be

- Finally, in non-Ace Attorney news, Professor Layton and Pandora's Box received an iOS and Android port last month, and Layton's Mystery Journey Deluxe Edition releases on the Switch on November 11th.

Hopefully we'll see some more news on the future of the Ace Attorney series some time this year, but in the meantime we'll just have to patiently wait and replay the Trilogy again.

Although not strictly Ace Attorney related, at around this time of year a bunch of AA fans gather together to watch companies that aren't Capcom showcase their latest offerings, all while asking each other where all the lawyers are.

That's right, it's E3 time, and as always Court Records will be hosting live viewings of each of the major conferences. While we don't normally expect AA news at any of these except maybe Nintendo's, it's always a fun time chatting about the more general state of the gaming world with like-minded people, so please make sure to join us there.

Here's a list of timings for each of the E3 showings, but also make sure to follow us on twitter to see when we're going live. As always, the streams will be hosted on our cytube page.

The Western release date for the HD remaster of the Ace Attorney Trilogy has been revealed as April 9th by Capcom. The game will be digital only in the West, and will release with English and Japanese language support, with French and German to be added in a post-launch update. April 9th will also be the first time the game will release on Steam, and it's probably the delay in this version of the game that is causing a slight delay in the game's Western release. PS4 and Steam versions of the game come with a pre-order bonus wallpaper.

You can read more about the game's Western release from Capcom here.

Well, the time has finally come - an Ace Attorney game has been released on the new generation of consoles. Of course, the excitement of this occasion is dampened slightly for fans of the series, as this is the port of a trilogy that's already received five (or more, it's a lot to keep track of) ports and is playable on everything from your phone to your 3DS. But this at least looks to be the cleanest, most extensive port yet, and its availability on most modern platforms means that the reach of the trilogy now extends further than ever.

The PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of this game launch today in Japan, with the Steam version to follow at a later date. An English release has been announced to come out sometime later this year (last minute update: the release date for the English language version will be announced next week), but if you can't wait, the game does have English language support.

It may not be the new Ace Attorney game we were all clamouring for, but hopefully it'll be a way to get new fans into the series, and a way for old fans to revisit the original trilogy.

A new Nintendo Direct has been announced for air tomorrow, and as always Court Records will be hosting a stream of the Direct at http://cytube.court-records.net/r/CR. Although Ace Attorney news is unlikely, we may possibly see a release date announcement for the HD Trilogy in the West.

The Direct airs at 2pm PT, 5pm ET, 10pm GMT and 11pm CET.

In addition, if you don't follow our twitter, you might have missed some smaller items of Ace Attorney related news, including the fact that the soundtracks for most of the games have been recently released on Spotify. You can find them by searching for 'Capcom Sound Team'.

In order to promote the AA Trilogy remaster, Capcom has also released a remaster of an old Ace Attorney Investigations trailer, which features the Steel Samurai theme song with lyrics. You can find that here.

Hope to see some of you on the Direct stream tomorrow!

After first being teased way back in 2014, First 4 Figures has finally unveiled its Phoenix Wright statue, which opens for pre-orders on Friday 23rd November. You can find out how to pre-order the figure and watch a short video on F4F's website here (but be warned, they're usually on the pricey side). Even if you don't preorder, I think it's a promising sign that we're finally seeing some AA merch widely available outside Japan.

Previews for this week's Famitsu magazine are out, and reveal that the recently announced Ace Attorney Trilogy HD port for PS4, Switch, Xbox One and Steam will be featured in the upcoming issue. We'll have high definition scans of Famitsu when it's out. Furthermore, the English Ace Attorney twitter account has announced that it too will be sharing new details about the upcoming ports, likely the same as what will be shared in Famitsu.

For those in Japan, the release date of the port has been announced as February 21st and e-Capcom has also put up its limited edition versions of the game for Switch and PS4. Depending on which version you buy, it comes with a copy of the game, a soundtrack CD, a drama CD, a mini canvas art piece, a buildable Blue Badger kit and even some Steel Samurai trading cards. You can order them here!

A one hour long prequel episode to the current AA Season 2 is set to air on January 19th at 5.30pm JST. It will reportedly be based on Turnabout Memories. For those in Japan, a special cinema airing of the episode will be shown on the 17th, with special guests Yuki Kaji (Phoenix) and Aoi Yuuki (Maya) talking about the production of the show.

The first Tokyo Game Show Ace Attorney Panel has finished airing, and you can watch it all here. Even if it wasn't quite what some fans hoped for, there were still a number of announcements.

The biggest one was the announcement of a new Ace Attorney Trilogy port, with updated graphics and UI. The game will be released worldwide on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and Steam in early 2019. Our post on the port, with trailers and screenshots is here.

A new trailer for the anime's second series, as well as a companion manga were also announced. You can find the new trailer at about 21 minutes into the conference, and we'll post it separately when it becomes available.

Capcom also announced a new orchestral concert to be held on March 30th 2019. Tickets will become available on November 24th.

And of course, we also can't forget the Dai Gyakuten Saiban themed credit card that was also announced for Japan...

Ace Attorney 123HD is coming to Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and Steam! It will launch early 2019 worldwide, and there will be an eCapcom limited edition in Japan.

The UI and some assets have been updated, and the game now features 10 save data slots. You can watch the English trailer here here, and the Japanese trailer here

Got something that isn't a bug, feature, or styling suggestion? Or maybe you just want to sound off in general about the redesign as it goes along? Consider this an open feedback thread to chat about the redesign in general.

As stated many, many, many times, this is a work-in-progress beta! That said, we feel we have a pretty good grip on the functionality and style for the site going forward...

...But maybe we don't? If you have a feature you think would really improve the site, or if there's some piece of styling that's absolutely ruining your experience, let us know in this thread! (Do note that some pages, like the character index at time of this posting, are totally without styling, so reporting those is a bit of a no-op!)

This week I have been tinkering with the sprite animation displays. I am driving everything from the database now. But the visual alignment isn't quite finished. Especially not when it comes to the poll block. Please excuse the mess as we figure out how CSS works.
