Entrant's Name: DreenS
Character's Name: Circey Ash'ma Morgan
Age: 36
Occupation:
-Judge
-Themis Legal Academy part time judge course teacher, succeding to Constance Courte.
Brief Physical Description:
Circey is a tall dark-skinned middle-aged woman with deep brown eyes. She has silver-coloured hair that she likes to style in a strict bun and like most of her clan's members, bears gold marking on her cheeks. She wears a dark-blue tailor's skirt with opaque tighs and high heels, as well as a soft purple long-sleeved top underneath a dark blue cloak pinned with an opalescent stone. She completes her outfit with a witch hat and her clothes are lined with typical khura'inese patterns. Her staff, set with opalescent precious stones is a way to show her status in her clan and her position as a judge, as it is a stylization of lady justice's balance, symbol of justice, and her bracelets are in fact traditional scrolls on which are written the most important laws and qualities that make a good judge.
Brief Personality Description:
Circey is a calm woman, with kind of an aloof personality, very strict yet straight-forward in her teachings. She however is very passionate about her work since her objective is to hand the fairest verdict possible, taking in account all arguments. She has an habit to look down on lawyers and prosecutors alike, as she was often a witness to their pleadings and their attempts to change a verdict by sweet talking the audience with blunt lies and tearful pleadings, overturning the judge's authority by pressuring them to adhere to their pity induced opinion. As such, Athena Cykes is the lawyer she mistrusts the most, as her whole argument is based on her interpretation of the witnesses feelings (she however slowly start to see how interesting her ability is), alongside with Simon due to his use of psychological manipulation. As a mentor, she is very mindful to offer her students, and especially Juniper, the best teaching. She is very sharp in her judgment, and is right most of the time, with kind of a majestic attitude.
Connection to canon characters (if applicable):
-Juniper Woods (pupil)
-Athena Cykes (opponent/distrusted lawyer)
-Simon Blackquill (opponent/distrusted prosecutor)
-Constance Courte (predecessor)
Brief Background:
After Constance Courte's death and Aristotle Means' arrest, Circey was hired by the new director as a replacement to the judge course teacher. As one of the few judges and lawyers dedicated eradicate the corrupted lawyers, prosecutors and the "bough" judges of the Dark Age of the Law she quickly decided to do so by purging the new generation of its corrupted elements and teaching the young judges to-be to make the difference between good and bad by themsleves and keep feelings away from their judgment.
After encoutering Athena Cykes and Simon Blackquill in court, she tried at numerous time to prove that their methods were going against the very spirit of the law and what they were trying to avoid in this new era. She even requested to be in charge of their second trial together, as she saw how easily the current judge was manipulated. However, witnessing several witness break down in front of their abilities, she slowly came to accept it as a legitimate way to solve a case.
At first, Juniper's emotive personality and skittish attitude discouraged Circey to transform her into an almighty and respected judge. But seeing her determination and her will to watch up to Athena convinced her to teach her personally and to make her the great Judge she dreams to be.
Years prior to her hiring at Themis Legal Academy, her insights were overturned by a talented and manipulative prosecutor (her ex-husband) who even convinced her, the judge at the time (and the whole audience), that the defendant was guilty by making her feel disgust and repulsion for the guy and playing on the trust she had in him. Days later, said defendant died in prison, and one of the witness of the trial, who swore he was innocent, was finally arrested after he killed many other victims.
On that dark day, she swore to herself to never let herself be manipulated by her feelings and the attorneys' pleadings and pity induced arguments and to control each of their move to avoid deceitful tactics. (She sometimes pay a visit during investigations).
Since this day her wrist scrolls got way bigger and longer, showing all the restrictions she puts herself through as an impartial judge, its weight reminding her of her past mistakes and the road she still have to go through. After she confronts Athena and Simon and accept that their abilities are useful, she fully remove them and replace them with wrist flowers made by Juniper. It is made in Daffodil flowers, which represents forgiveness, new beginnings and rebirth.
Indeed, she finally accepts that a Judge do not only exist to punish, but also to forgive.
Trivia:
-Her first name, Circey, comes from the Greek Magician and Sorceress Circe, which is reffering to her witch-like design, as well as her clan's psychic powers. Its Greek Origin was made to fit in the Themis Legal Academy universe ("Themis","Aristotle"...).
-Morgan comes from Morgan le Fay, for the same reasons. It was also a way to connect her clan with the Fey clan, as Fey also comes from "Morgan le Fay".
-Ash'ma comes from the Indian "excellent" and "higher state" and from the arabic "honourable". A reference to her hogher status in court due to being a judge and her aloof personnality, as her Khura'inese ancestry.
-Her design is made so that she fits in the quite eccentric feel specific to teaches and students of Themis Legal Academy.
-Her clothes design is inspired from the Khura'inese clothing.
-When nervous or lying, she rolls and unrolls her wrist scrolls repeatedly.
-Just like the Fey Clan, the Morgan clan descends from the Khura'inese royal family, and its women possess psychic powers, yet much weaker (they are unable to perform spirit channeling), but they use them in different ways, closer to the Dance of Devotion than to Spirit Channeling, involving their opalescent precious stones.
-Oddly, she doesn't think spirit channeling and such are a danger for the court, as she is sure it represents reality contrary to the Mood Matrix and Phoenix's bluffing.
-Her silver hair isn't due to ageing.
-The flower on her hat is an aster flower, which means star and comes from the Greek Goddess Astraea, who is the allegory of Justice and whose main attribute is the scales of justice.
-Like Amara, she seems to be ageing very slowly.

In this court of law, your petty little tactics won't get you anywhere, you demon!
