Entrant's Name: Bry / Paintruth
Entrant's Website (optional): Kooiiart (tumblr)
Character's Name: Delbert take (The pun in his name is 'double take'. While in the Japanese version, his name would be Mite Abe 見る 安倍 (Mite = look and Abe = multiple times) His name is based on the premise of 'to look multiple times' while additionally his name can also be read as 'my eyes'.
Age: 2001 - 15 - student, 2019 - 33 - private detective, 2028/2029 - 42-43 (DD / SOJ timeline)
Occupation: Prosecutor-Detective (previously a private detective)
Catchphrase(s): "Hold on!" / "Let's double check that shall we?"

Brief Physical Description: Fairly skinned, light brown eyes and looking well for his age. Delbert is well groomed with side burns and a arrow shaped goatee. He has two-tinted hair; with his facial hair being yellow and his hair being a dark black. Delbert also dresses in a mostly formal manner, with dress pants, a vest and a scarf that's wrapped around his neck. However Delbert's dark grey t-shirt adds a casual appeal to his formal attire. The shirt comes equipped with cuff-links, styled after the police stations logo. He is never seen without a skewer in his mouth.

Often times someone takes one glance at him before double taking to see if hes the perceived person they thought him to be. The individual who's mistaken him tends to usually immediately notice their error in judgement and correct themselves. If they don't, Delbert polity rectify's their error. Often times people find it hard to believer he's a prosecutor or a detective due to how un-prosecutor / detective like he looks.

Brief Personality Description: Delbert is a perceptive and thorough man, double checking every bit of information and evidence that he comes into possession of. Even going so far as to make the defence question their own evidence by making them double check said evidence, with the power of miss-direction to make them double guess themselves. This is all so as to nudge them in the right direction once the validity of the evidence has been proven.

Despite how friendly he can come across, he actually closes his heart off to others, usually working alone when he takes up a case. This is due to a weariness of being used as a scapegoat if something is found to be wrong with the evidence ("the detective handled the evidence, so he forged it!!" etc.) and paying the price for something he did not commit.

Delbert can be a laid back person, such as how he never bats an eye when someone mistakes him for somebody else; often commenting "It happens all the time." Giving the impression hes grown use to it. Delbert is simply just a guy that wants to get on with his job while ensuring proper justice is delivered. Whether that justice leads to either guilty or a non-guilty verdict, so long as the correct verdict it reached.

Connection to canon characters (if applicable): Delbert take is the son of rip lacer (Wataru shirasu from investigations 2.) However it isn't necessarily an important factor to know (albeit referenced too by the means of subtle clues.) While on the other hand, Delbert has meet with fellow detectives such as Dick gumshoe and Ema skye, whom of which he has clashed with but only due to their differences in their work ethics. Delbert humbly respects them despite that for he understands how tough of a job being a detective can be.

How he came to become a prosecutor, despite his pre-existing commitments as a detective, was that he successfully discussed a proposal with the chief prosecutor, Edgeworth to let him join the prosecutor office. The reason Edgeworth allowed such a proposal was the idea that this could potentially aid in the revitalisation of the court system after the prior dark times it had faced, but also simply out of curiosity. Due to being interested in the idea of seeing what a prosecutor-detective could achieve in the courtroom.

Brief Background: Delbert as a teenager was planning to follow in his fathers footsteps and become a detective. As he came to adore the ideology that 'detectives were the ones who had the real power in a court of law', due to the fact that evidence that detectives found would aid in determining the verdict of the trial. However his way of perceiving the court system would change after the occurrence of the IS-7 and DL-6 incidents. Where through the miss-use and fabrication of evidence, his father was fired, a potentially innocent man is charged, a defence attorney is found dead and that the prosecutor on the case receives a mere penalty for his actions (a slap on the wrist in the eyes of the young Delbert.)

After the following incidents, Delbert would instead pursue the route of a private detective. If working for a court of law meant being controlled by outside forces and going against your code of conduct, then he wanted nothing to do with it. Not after what had become of his father (for taking the brunt of the blame and shortly afterwards, up and disappearing, Delbert would come to believe he left out of shame, unable to handle remaining.) What Delbert questioned the most though, was how there were still a continued relationship between prosecutors and law enforcement. He couldn't fathom why it hadn't ceased after the dubious nature of the IS-7 and DL-6 incident's.

More then anything, he wanted to prove something was amiss about the IS-7 incident and that his fathers actions weren't his own. But being just a student, he had no investigation rights to look into it. Nor would they release any information to him, the son of that fired detective. It was then that Delbert knew that he could only rely on himself if no one else was going to help him.

28 years later, Delbert would become a police detective after having stepped away from the private sector. His feelings about the incidents all those years ago had settled, not that he had matured. With only having been young back then. Now, he simply wanted to move on with his life and pursue a court of law that'll ensure nothing like the IS-7 or DL-6 incident happens again. He decides that his best means of achieving this, would be by joining the prosecutor office.

Additional sprite animations: Based off of the idea that characters double take Delbert. Delbert would perform animations suspiciously very familiar to other well known characters (e.g Delbert performing an Edgeworth animation) before the opposing character double takes to realise he isn't doing what they thought he was doing (aka Delbert is now performing his default animations.) This prompts Delbert to state that the other character is simply seeing things / is mistaken.

Additional character tad bits;
●Delbert is a character inspired by the concept of creating someone whose cautious with evidence due to previous incidents within AA. Such is the reason why he was also designed to share similarities with other characters, while some design elements serve as red herrings. So as to imply a 'don't take things at face value' meaning with his character because of the many times evidence could not be trusted at face value.

●From time to time he would make references to incidents that have affected detectives to back up what hes doing. Such references can range from commentary on Gumshoes pay roll back in the day, his father and detectives that have been caught up in cases - e.g rise from the ashes. All in all, he was created to be a character that brought to light a detectives POV compared to how AA stories usually focus upon either the defence, prosecutors or even the fey clan.

●Delbert's in game goal is determining whether or not it's time for detectives to discontinue their work relationship with prosecutors and become their own party in a court of law after years of working alongside each other. He's achieving this by taking on cases by himself without the aid of a detective (e.g what Gumshoe is to Edgeworth.) due to being able to fulfil the detective role himself. As well as seeing if this is the way forward in protecting the validity of evidence and opposing forged evidence.

●Due to Delbert serving both the role of prosecutor and detective, investigations would become more difficult for the defence due to how seriously he takes his job. This is to contrast what investigations were like with previous detectives from the series (and how they'd come to the defences aid etc.) The defence would still find a way to come out on top however. Delbert does not necessarily go out of his way to obstruct the defence's investigations.

●Delbert is first most a detective before he's a prosecutor. Because of this, he can come across as being more willing to assist the defence unlike his fellow prosecutors. His interest in getting a guilty verdict is only apparent when that's what the evidence is telling him.

●Delbert's surname is his mothers surname. The reasoning for this is that he was technically born after his parents had officially separated (they separated on good terms.) That is why Delbert does not share the same surname as his fathers, however Rip lacer did take an active role in helping raise him.
